Calgreg

The Company

Calgreg is an electronic component distributor specializing in semi-conductor adapters, sockets, interconnects, thermal management products, and electronic packaging. They sell to a wide range of OEM's and end users in New England and across the country.

The Challenge

Calgreg had developed a website with internal resources that had:

  • No presence in the major search engines
  • Little qualified traffic
  • Very limited content
  • Poor navigation
  • Links to manufacturers that sent visitors off-site and often to competing distributors
  • A home page that was an image of an old brochure with no text

The Assessment

We determined that potential customers searched by product type or by manufacturer brand name.

The Plan

Provide an overview of all product lines. Build detailed content for five major lines to show the breadth of each line. Offer navigation that allows browsing by product or brand so visitors can easily find the product they need. Integrate an ecommerce cart to sell lower margin items via the site instead of costly customer service reps.

The Result

  • #1 Position for manufacturer keywords often ranking ahead of the actual brand on Google (see Schroff Cabinets)
  • A steady stream of RFQ's from major OEMS such as IBM, Gillette, Kodak and Allied Telesys.
  • Site architecture that allows for continual content build-out
  • Clean, fast loading site
  • Search functionality for all products
  • Customized shopping cart integration to drive existing customers to online ordering of low margin items.

Today Calgreg receives an average of 15 highly qualified RFQ's per week directly from the website RFQ form. The company receives many additional inquiries via the phone. The content of the site will continue to be built as more content will breed more success. The bottom line: more customers and increased sales.
